THE FINNISH LONG DRINK
The long drink is a popular drink native to Finland, but still relatively unknown here in the states. People don’t know much about the drink or the country. To help introduce the brand The Long Drink to new people, we gave New Yorkers a taste of Finland through a immersive window display exhibition where passersby could experience an authentic Finnish sauna, ice plunge, and cabin culture along with The Finnish Long Drink.
Curiosity meets exhibitionism
Dubbed “The Happiness Portal”, the exhibition was made up of three sequential rooms built inside in a busy storefront in SOHO Manhattan and were fully viewable from the street. The disruptive visual drew the attention and stares of even the most seasoned New Yorkers, and quickly turned into a long queue of eager and curious participants. The participants were then ushered through the experience where they would interact with an immersive actor who “lived” in each space.
Steaming and streaming
The experience was live-streamed through YouTube and to a custom Happiness Portal website where you could watch and listen to the guests as they moved through each room.
A portal where disrobing is kind of the point
To drive intrigue to the installation, we leveraged the buzz around New York’s “Portal” that had recently been shut down for the exact type of behavior we were encouraging - taking your clothes off in public. We trolled the area with wild posts and targeted social promoting ours.
