FINNISH LONG DRINK CHANNELS THE SPIRIT OF ’52

by Jon Springer

The Finnish Long Drink and the Olympics go way back—the gin-based soda known as Finland’s national drink was originally commissioned for the 1952 Games in Helsinki. Now a U.S.-based canned cocktail brand based on that drink, also called The Finnish Long Drink, is celebrating its founding event with a contest through the fitness app Strava. Participants who log at least 26.2 miles in the “Legend of ’52 Challenge” contest period—which began July 26 and ends Aug. 11—have a chance to share in a $52,000 prize.

The prize drawing is random and the mileage can be accrued gradually, as exemplified in Good Conduct’s creative. It features a decidedly out-of-shape runner on the road carrying Long Drinks—and an unusual snack—in a fanny pack.
